Just to let you know that I have started putting the reviews on this forum rather than on the NJS site. It just means that it easier to upload them and now anybody can add their comments and even write some reviews.

More will be added soon

cheers

chris

sorry but I would have to argue with that dude. 24 minutes of superb creative musicianship, my mix and master arent anything special being a novice and whatnot but I think its quite listenable, cheers though. Ill have to have another go at recording sometime soon. Maybe ill get it better next time!

Mars Bonfire
See the Light EP REVIEW

First Track on the EP is 'See the Light' (also the title of the E.P) a fierce classic Mars Bonfire tune with ballsy riffs, classic Bass lines and fat drums that underpin Martin's growling vocals. 70's style Rock brought kicking and screaming into this millennium at its very best, Followed by 'You Find You' a much mellower blues influenced Rock song with sweet melody and a touch of Hendrix feel. So far the EP is brilliant Im almost lost for words. The EPs Last track is 'Here Not There' which you have to hear to believe. Superb! I only hope that the forthcoming album is as well written as the EP. Well Done Martin, Remi, Karl and Shane. I am seriously looking forward to the album.

There is always a sweet Blues theme coupled with an energetic Hard Rock edge scattered throughout the music of Mars Bonfire, and the See the Light EP succeeds in capturing the essence of this combination of styles in their purest forms. While this EP is offering an insight into Mars Bonfires tremendous songs from their next album with catchy melodies and Remi's singing guitar riffs they still cannot measure up to the bands awe inspiring live sets, no matter how good this EP sounds(and believe me it does). However this EP is a MUST BUY, not only for Bonfire fans but for Rock and Blues enthusiasts alike. Great musicianship, Definantly Top of my play-list and rated in my top 3 commercially available releases of 2007. (9/10)

Should have made a started a new Thread for this realy

Sunday Night of Live Music In Worcester
I had a busy night seeing three gigs in three hours last night. Started off popping into O'Nieills to check out Jim Fox. An really cool folk, Celtic, country, blues singer who reminded me of a slimmer and healthier looking Dumpy (without his Rusty Nuts). Some great tunes. He .has been described by the Irish World Newspaper as one of the most sought after acts on the Irish/Celtic scene today and I can see why.
Then it was down to TJs to catch some  live music there. Dudes Of Neptune, a four piece Progressive, psychedelic rock band,  were doing their stuff. The sound was a bit muffled and off balance for this didn't really spoil the show. They have some great songs and a lot of talent.

I caught almost the entire set before I had to run to the Marrs Bar to look in on the 1147am acoustic night. Chris Weymus was just talking to the stage. He is the drummer from AWWBLOT , but tonight he was doing his singer/guitarist bit. He has a great voice and can play guitar really well. He was joined on stage by AWWBLOT frontman Pete joined him for a bit of White Stripes. James (1147am) has got a good thing going here. Bringing the Worcester scene together and having fun in the process. Nice one mate.

I had to leave shortly after, halfway through  a set by Marrs Bar gaffer Marzy on guitar and Meg  on vocals. She has an amazing voice, maybe a little quiet but terrific non the less. I wished I could of stayed longer but I had to catch the headliner at TJs.

Another trip across town, and back to TJs to checkout a band that I have heard of so many times, but never actually seen live. TJs Bar was now pretty full. Everyone was here to see Meteor Street. A local  experimental alternative prog rock band with a load of ideas, some great tracks and a wonderful sound. They are a band that not only excite you, but inspire and reignite your faith in the Worcester music scene. Seeing them for the first time was almost like seeing the birth of something wonderful. They are a band to be watched. Believe me on this.
Well, three venues, Guinness by the gallon and a couple of bottles of cheap lager, a varied mix of live music and catching up with some mates. Is it me, or is Worcester kickin' again?
