The Five Ways Hotel (worcester, opposite tramps) are now looking for regualar live music on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays

They are having three days worth of live music for the festival (22-24 august)but want to start doing some stuff in july.

Not Just Sauce may be holding a festival fund raiser or 2 at that venue, but if anybody is interested in doing something, get in touch: contact the venue (01905 749575 - ask for Lorraine) or contact me and we'll see if we can get another venue in worcester putting on regular stuff.

cheers

chris

Hi,

Not heard anything more than Chris has said, Drop me a PM with your email address and when I've spoken with them I'll drop you an email.

I reckon we could get 4 bands with 30-40 minute slots and a 10-15 minute changeover in one night without much hassle.

Paul

Not checked here for a while...but do you have a date for this thing yet?  I'm sure we'd be interested in playing...a saturday night would be best for us...but any day is doable?

Chris,

Superb!, many thanks for your help. I'm up for a sunday night gig especially if it's to help start a new pub/club.

Five Ways are up for it. They are having a refurb soon but want to start havving bands in early July (long way off I know.). Lorraine (the gaffer) wouldn't mind some sunday night events but i am sure a saturday or friday wouldn't be impossible

I am looking at more venues.

Hi,

Personally I prefer weekends, that's when you'll get the most people wanting to go out, and wanting entertainment. Friday or saturday night would seem to make sense to me.

As for Venue, I'm more than happy to play a new venue, the big problem is, as you highlighted, my band plays original material and it can be a risk for a pub/club, covers are an easy option.

All we need now is 3 more bands, I expect the Chance would be up for it...

Let me know what the landlord at the 5 ways hotel says, and we'll move forward from there.

Cheers
Paul

I'm all for helping out with that. I agree that the worcester scene is a bit stale at the moment and needs a kick up the ass. hopefully the WOrcester Festival will go someway to improving things but it still needs alot or work.

i know Five Ways Hotel are looking to put on live music. Its not the best venue in the world but it has promise.  I have to speak to the owner soon so I can have a word with her about it. Were you thinking weekend or week day?

Keystones are also putting more and more original bands on now as well.

what do you reakon?

Guys,

Is there anyone on here who runs a pub/club and wants to try and put together an evening with say 4 or 5 acts on (30 - 45 mins a set) ?

I can't beleive that in a town the size of worcester there's so little going on music wise. Hereford (where I live) must be half the size of worcester, if not smaller and yet the hereford music forum is busy, there are gigs on most nights of the week and loads of bands.

So what's the difference? is it apathy? or is it that people just want to play in birmingham?

Aside from the guys at fat rat, who do a cracking job, there must be others out there!

Perhaps 4 or 5 bands could get together and try and organise something?

Paul
