Who are you?
Bob Jones, amateur bluesman and blues journalist (Blues In Britain mag)

What do you do?

Muse, amuse, contemplate...

Do you enjoy your job?

I'm retired. I enjoy that a lot.

Can you recommend a use for Worcestershire Sauce?

If you refer to the condiment, I should think they're all well-known by now. I think it fits best with steak. And a good sausage. Poseurs who drink it with bloody mary are just showing off.

What do you think of the Worcester music scene at the moment?

Lots of good live stuff around : Paul Rose, Jules Benjamin, Slidin' Steve, Perry Foster, Dave Ryles, Paul Jeffery, Rachel Clutterbuck, the George Cowley Experience. But also lots of tribute/karaoke stuff. But if that's what people want, good luck to them. I like the blues, so there's not much here besides what I and my friends produce.

Do you speak any foreign languages?

Fair German and French ; poor Spanish ; halting Italian.

Do you play any musical instruments?

Guitar, little harmonica.

Would you say that you are a good singer?

You tell me, you've seen me. I do what I do the best I can.

Are you a Thinker, or a Doer?

More a thinker. Doing is just too, too taxing, me
dear.

What car do you drive?

Don't have one. Can't drive.

Is there one song you really wish that you had written?

Come On In My Kitchen, Robert Johnson.

What would you like to be remembered for?

My version of Come On In My Kitchen

What do you think you will be remembered for?

It'll be something along the lines of "Bob who?

Do you have a favourite line from a song?

"Don't tell me to stop crying, only hold me when I do". From 'Girlfriend', Shawn Colvin. Gets me every time.

If there was a movie of your life, who would play you?

Woody Allen.

If there was a movie of your life what would the film be called?

WTF was bob jones? (and why)

If there was a movie of your life would it be a tragedy, a comedy, action thriller, a rom-com or what?

Are you kidding me? Just call Ishmael.

Do you have a favourite joke?

Blind-folded bloke running along a beach parallel to the sea holding a divining rod pointes straight ahead ; turns sharp right ; plunges into sea.

Who would you like to see represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest?

Well, it's a farce, so I'd say Harriet Harmon. No, Prescott.

What radio station do you listen to the most?

Radio 2. Yes, that's it : you got me. Old fart-wave.

Is your glass Half Empty or Half Full?

I drink my wine by the bottle.

Do you have a favourite day of the week?

Any one where I can arise after 10.00 without one of those headaches that start off at the ankle and get progressively worse as they climb.

What do you think is the best thing to happen in the last 25 years?

Thatcher dumped.

What do you think is the worst thing to happen in the last 25 years?

The invasion of Iraq. Twin Towers. Thatcher's still alive. Oasis. Pick one.

How many times in the past month have you thought "I wish I'd done that"

or "I wish I'd thought of that"?

Quite recently. When that pigeon dumped on a statue of Thatcher.

Which is best, Apple Mac or PC?

I haven't the vaguest idea. Or interest.

What's the first record you ever bought?

Hound Dog. Elvis. HMV Pop 249, (man, how did I remember that?)

What song do you want played at your funeral?

'Dark Was The Night, Cold Was The Grave', Blind Willie Johnson

If you weren't answering these questions, what would you be doing right now?

Please try not to be impertinent.

Which Dan Ackroyd film do you prefer, Blues Brothers or Ghostbusters?

Blues Brothers

Who is your favourite Dr Who?

Chris Ecclestone. Or do I mean Evans?

Who is your favourite James Bond?

None of them. It should have been Ollie Reed.

If you only had a choice of two shops would you get your groceries from Lidl or Marks and Spencers

Lidl : not posh enough for M & S.

If you had to watch ONE film, all day, everyday, for a week, which film would it be?

Jazz On A Hot Summer's Day.

Do you have a favourite time of the day?

Whenever the first cork of the day is drawn. (Come to think of it that's what I'd be doing now if I were not doing this)

What book/magazine are you reading?

JR, by Willam Gaddis (pretentious, moi?)

Have you any advice or thoughtful insight for our readers?

Evolution recapitulates cosmogony. Or possibly the other way round.

thanks to Pete for taking time out to to do this. Next for this feature is ....wait and see.
