MEGJL.jpgThanks for all the kind words everyone one has said about Rob. I know he would have been honoured and humbled to read them.
The full line lineup for the tribute gig has been anounced...

We are honoured to announce a special appearance from John Lawrence ex from Gorky's Zygotic Mynci. Gorky's are the reason that Meg formed and we played some of our best gigs in his GeoTeepee in Wales and at his curated stage at Snogfest.

Also playing are the fantasic And What Will Be Left Of Them, Mr Bones & The Dreamers, The Rivers Presley Set amd Cobweb Dilemas - bands that have been great friends of Meg over the years.

Doors open at 6pm and John Lawrence will open the evening at 6:30-6:45 ish. It's free to get in and there will be collections for the Make A Wish Foundation.

Everyone I've spoken to over the last week has been absolutely shocked by this incredibly sad news and a great loss to the Midlands music scene and of course Rob's family and friends. Meg had an unique sound that was very much centred on Rob - a style that I liked to call 'thunder-rock'! I checked through my notes and realised that I'd been to see Meg at various venues 6 times in the past year alone - that's what I call a go-to band! Credit to Rob himself - he had a great, dry, self-deprecating sense of humour - loved his sparkly shirt! Beside the personal connection - I really appreciated it when they played 'A Song For' and Rob would say 'By special request of Andy' - thanks mate! Meg were one of the first acts on the Friday Session - and let's be grateful that Rob left a legacy of some great music that I'll still be listening to in another 10 years time - it was a privilege to meet you Rob...

I have seen Meg play a few times in Birmingham and spoke to Rob after the gig once or twice. He was a terrific guy. Really friendly. I would like to take this opportunity to say that my thoughts are with his family and it is sad loss to all who knew him, or knew his music. Rest in Peace Rob.

He was such a great musician, this is a sad day. I have a lot of respect for him and his fantastic music. I found him to be a very warm and clever man, his music reflected that. He will be missed by many people, the guy was a real genius and his songs were very inspiring. I'm going to miss him xxx

All my love Rob

Some Very Sad News

Rob, from the Kidderminster band Meg has sadley passed away while on holiday is spain. He was an important part of the local music scene, and a great musician. His sense of humour was unique and was always keen to be involved with Worcestershire music.

I am afraid to say that i only met Rob a couple of occasions and he was always friendly, quick with a joke and a really warm personality. From what I have heard about him recently, i really wish i had know him better. He sounded like a really great guy. A sad loss ... he will be greatly missed. our thoughts go out to his family, his friends, and of course, the rest of Meg.

Listen to the tributes that have been sent in on BBC Hereford & Worcester.

This excerpt was taken from the Meg website ...

"It is with a very heavy heart that i am writing this. Rob bestfriend/brother guitar and voclas of meg passed away yesterday while on holiday in spain. Cant put into words how devastated we all are at this terrible loss, he truly was a one of a kind and touched whoever he met with his personality and humour. He was a musical genius and his loss has left a huge whole in all our lives. Its so hard to know what to right other than we all loved him so much and will never ever forget our brother/friend top class dude that he was. "

All of meg xxx
